Pastoral Theology Courses:

Church Administration:
A study of the theology and practice of church administration in the context of church government, principles and procedures for starting a church, officers and their duties and business organization.


Pastoral Care:
A study of the nature and practice of pastoral care in the context of theology, church discipline, psychology, psychotherapy, preaching, teaching, confession and exorcism.


Pastoral Ministry:
An overview of various activities involved in the ongoing ministry of the pastor including such functions as preaching, teaching, outreach ministries, counselling, administration, disciple-making and assimilating new believers into the church congregation.


Pulpit Speech:
Designed to teach the student the art of persuading a person or persons while analyzing his or her audience. This course includes a consideration of aspects of proper presentation such as outlining, supporting points, gestures, delivery methods and voice control to achieve the greatest possible results.


Sermon Preparation:
A study of the science and art of the preparation of sermons including a consideration of twenty different styles of sermons.


Sermon Delivery:
A study of the principles and practice of sermon delivery. Suggestions are made concerning the best methods of presenting biblical truths to the listener.


Biblical Preaching:
A study of the process of preparing and delivering biblical sermons beginning with the interpretation of the biblical text and proceeding to the effective communication of the message.


Leading Praise and Worship:
A study and evaluation of the importance and operation of music and worship in the church. A practical approach is presented concerning the many problems arising in connection with church music with emphasis on the problems and needs of the smaller congregation.


Practical Theology:
A study of the principles of success in ministry as identified by the nineteenth century prince of preachers, Charles Haddon Spurgeon. These principles which guided him in building one of the world’s most significant ministries are considered and adapted to our contemporary culture.


Understanding the Will of God:
An examination of the biblical concept of the will of God with specific guidelines on how to use the Scriptures to discover and implement God’s will for your life.
