Eric Shaw ¨

Tenor Eric Shaw has established an international reputation through performances at a number of renowned musical centers.  From Wexford to Lincoln Center to Tangle wood and Genoa he has been lauded for "singing and acting with fluent ease and charm" (Michael Kennedy, Sunday Telegraph, London, UK). The Jubilee Hall itself was the scene of his debut at the esteemed Aldeburgh Festival where he was featured in the role of Lysander in Britten's A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM. Last heard in New York with Botstein and the American Symphony Orchestra in Schumann's rarely heard DAS PARADIES UND DIE PERI at Lincoln Center, he was in Toronto for the World Premiere of Chan Ka Nin's THE WEAVING MAIDEN for Sound streams, in ROMÉO ET JULIETTE as Tybalt for Opera Ontario, Don Gaston in DIE DREI PINTOS by Weber/Mahler (recording later released by Naxos),and the role of Ramiro in LA CENERENTOLA took him to Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania, Sicily. Last season he sang the Evangelist in Bach's MATTHÜUS PASSION with the Victoria Symphony. Next season he debuts with the National Chorale in New York in DIE SCHÖPFUNG and also looks forward to Rossini's PETITE MESSE SOLENNELLE for the Grand Philharmonic Choir (Kitchener-Waterloo) and the Bach Elgar Choir of Hamilton.  He reprises his starring role in DIE DREI PINTOS for Toronto's Opera in Concert and sings the evangelist in Bach's Passions for Toronto and Peterborough. Eric Shaw holds a Masters degree in Voice and Opera performance from the University of Toronto. In addition to busy performance schedule, he has been teaching privately in Toronto and is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing. He is very pleased to be able to offer his services to Canada Christian College.
